"Sunk"by Sue copyright2007

SUNK.

Sun-deserted the salty relic
rests on the sandy sea bed;
adventure playground of colourful fish
limpet-laden,cups languidly bubble
awaiting the hands of the dead.

Rusty coins play draughts
on darkened timbers
capsule of stopped time
where seasnakes swim
through coral windows.

Portholes curtained
by fronds of green
swaying carpet of anemone reds
lantern of lichen,radar of reeds
seaweed quilts upon the beds.

Human bones now prime exhibit
in this marine museum today
pipefish and parrot fish
stingray and wrasse-
constant flurry,hunter and prey.

The few letters still to be seen
are read by plankton passing through
ship's name unlucky for everyone
sharks unafraid of evil eye
its iris drawn in brightest blue.
